Are you dealing with an injury or pain and struggling to find time to get into the clinic? Would you like to talk to an expert about what you can do right now to start getting relief, without leaving your house? Virtual physical therapy visits help people get back on track to being active, mobile, and independent, wherever they are.
If that sounds like you, a Virtual Discovery Visit gets your questions answered: what’s actually wrong, what your options are to fix it naturally, how long it will take, and what it costs. Here are the answers to the questions we get asked most.
How does virtual physical therapy work?
It’s simple: it’s just like a standard visit, except we aren’t physically in the room. You see and talk to us on your phone or computer from wherever’s convenient. You get the same level of care you’d expect from Simply Physio. A big part of our in-office sessions is hands-on work, and there’s no way to replicate that virtually, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get the same outcomes: we teach you self-techniques that create the same changes you need to start feeling better.
Who is virtual physical therapy for?
Virtual PT is a great fit for most people. If you can click a link we email you, you can handle the tech side of it. At your first visit, we make sure you’re actually a good candidate. If you qualify, we get you started on getting rid of your pain and back to the activities you love. If not, you’ll at least know what’s going on, and we’ll point you toward the right kind of care. Whether it’s nagging back or neck pain, guidance on your workouts, or advice on finally completing that 5k, we can help guide you through it.
What will my session look like?
Most of your session looks just like a typical in-person visit. It starts with a conversation to understand your history, symptoms, and goals. Your therapist then walks you through an examination, just as they would in the office, and develops a plan of action to help you reach your goals. After your appointment, you’ll get an email summarizing your session, including your diagnosis, individualized plan, and Home Exercise Program.
What if I need hands-on work?
We know how much manual therapy (dry needling, myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization) can help improve outcomes, which is why we use it often in our in-person sessions. While we can’t deliver that virtually, we can teach you strategies to do yourself, and for many people those strategies can be just as effective at delivering relief. Hands-on care is great, but the exercises and healing movements are the critical piece to lasting results, and that can be delivered seamlessly through a virtual session.
